Before you start, have the URL, database, login, and API key ready. If you do not have the key yet, see the requirements article.
Connecting
Go to Integrations and find the Odoo card.
Click Connect.
Fill in the four fields.
Click Connect.
You will see Testing connection... and, if everything is correct, Connection successful with the name of the Odoo user you signed in as. The card then shows Connected as that user.
The four fields
Field | What to enter | Example |
Odoo URL | The base URL of your instance, with no trailing path. |
|
Database | On Odoo Online, the subdomain of the URL. |
|
Login | The email you use to sign into Odoo. | |
API key | The key generated in Odoo. Never the password. | 40 characters |
Important: You can only have one CRM connected at a time. If you already have another one, you will need to disconnect it first. You will see this message: "You already have another CRM connected to your account. Disconnect it before connecting Odoo."
If the connection fails
Message | What it means | How to fix it |
We could not find an Odoo server at that URL | The address does not point to an Odoo instance, or it has an extra path | Use the base address only, with no |
That database does not exist on this Odoo instance | The database name is not correct | On Odoo Online it is the subdomain. If the instance was renamed, the name changed too |
Invalid login or API key | The key was copied wrong, revoked, or has expired | Generate a new key and try again |
Your Odoo Online plan does not include API access | The plan does not allow the external API | Upgrade to the Custom plan, or connect an on-premise or Odoo.sh instance |
You already have another CRM connected | Another CRM integration is active | Disconnect the other one before connecting Odoo |
Reconnecting
The card shows Reconnect when Odoo has rejected the stored key. This happens in two cases: the key expired, or someone revoked it in Odoo.
The message is:
Your Odoo API key has expired or been revoked. Enter a new API key to reconnect.
Generate a new key in Odoo, click Reconnect, and enter it. You do not lose your configuration: mappings, identifiers, and the rest of your settings stay where they were.
Note: If you rename your Odoo Online instance, the database name changes too. In that case you need to reconnect with the new values.
Changing the key without reconnecting
If you want to rotate the key before it expires, open the card settings, enter the new one under API key, and click Save changes.
Disconnecting
From the Odoo card, click Disconnect.
Important: Disconnecting in Enginy does not delete the API key in Odoo. These are two steps. To cut off access completely, also delete the key under My Preferences → Security → API Keys.
Warning: Connecting a different CRM resets the entire configuration of the previous one: field mappings, identifiers, fixed values, default owner, and specific settings.
This cannot be undone from the interface. If you are considering a CRM change and have a configuration you care about, talk to us first.
