Most Attio problems come down to a connection that needs renewing, an imprecise matching rule, an incompatible field, or a required List attribute. This guide helps you find the exact point.
Start with the activity report
After an import or export, open the activity report. Not every warning means the whole operation failed.
Result | What it means | What to do |
Success | The main record was processed. | Open a sample in Attio and validate fields, association and List. |
Warning | A secondary part may have failed, for example a List Entry or a Note. | Read the detail and review that specific part. |
Error | Enginy could not complete the record. | Review the connection, matching, permissions and the format of the field indicated. |
Attio shows as disconnected, or the authorization stopped working
Go to Integrations and open Attio.
Start the connection again with
Connect.Authorize the right workspace.
If the status does not change when you return to Enginy, refresh the Integrations page and open
Configure.
Enginy does not have an Attio refresh token. If the token expires, is invalidated, or you revoke access, you will have to reconnect.
I want to withdraw access completely
Disconnect removes the credential stored in Enginy, but on its own it does not revoke the application in Attio.
To withdraw access on both sides:
Click
Disconnectin Enginy. In Attio, open the connected applications settings.
Find Enginy and revoke its access.
An Attio field does not appear in Field Mapping
Check that:
The attribute belongs to the right object, People or Companies.
The attribute is not read-only.
The connection is still active and can read the object configuration.
You have reopened
Configureafter creating the attribute in Attio.
If it still does not appear, disconnect and reconnect only after checking the steps above.
The import finds no records
Review each point:
You are importing the right object.
The filter uses a compatible attribute and operator.
The conditions are too restrictive. Filters are combined with AND logic.
The chosen List accepts People or Companies according to your import.
The authorized workspace is the one containing the records.
The records have the data Enginy needs to avoid duplicates.
The preview shows a limited sample. Check the estimated count and use precise filters before starting a large import.
I imported Companies, but their People do not appear
Importing Companies does not automatically include all of their People. Turn on the option to also import the associated People when you prepare the import.
If a Company has no People linked through the relationship Enginy queries, there are no contacts to add.
The record exists, but it does not appear in the List
Creating the record and creating its Entry are separate operations. The most common cause is a required List attribute with no value, or with an unsupported format.
Open the List in Attio.
Review its required attributes.
Configure Custom list attributes in Enginy.
Start with Text, Number or User.
Repeat the test with one or two records.
Enginy adds or updates Entries, but it does not create Lists or remove records from them.
Data was overwritten in Attio
Review Overwrite existing value in the Field Mapping. If it is on, a non-empty Enginy value can replace the Attio one.
If you want to keep what already exists in Attio, turn on Sync with Attio for that field. Enginy will keep the Attio value when it is not empty and only fill the field in when it is. This option does not create a continuous two-way sync.
The Owner does not change in Attio
The generic Owner selector and User Mapping do not reliably assign an owner to People or Companies in Attio.
To store a user on a List Entry, use a User attribute inside Custom list attributes and select a member of the Attio workspace.
The Person ended up associated with the wrong Company
Enginy writes a single Company reference into the Person. If another one already existed, the export can replace it.
Fix the association in Attio, review the Companies matching, and test again with one record before repeating a bulk export.
A conversation's Notes do not appear
Check that:
Conversations CRM Sync is on for the Campaign.
The Person already exists in Attio.
Enginy knows that Person's Attio identifier.
The connection has access to Notes.
The message had not been synced previously.
Conversations are saved as plain text Notes, not as native activities.
Tasks does not work
The current Attio authorization does not include the Tasks scope. Do not configure flows that depend on creating or syncing tasks in Attio until this capability is explicitly enabled.
Temporary errors or API limits
Attio limits the rate of reads and writes. If a large batch returns temporary errors:
Wait a few minutes.
Retry with a smaller group.
Avoid launching several large imports or exports at once.
Check first that the failing records have not already been created.
What to send to support
Include:
The Attio workspace affected.
The approximate date and time.
The operation type: connection, import, export, List, Note or Campaign Mapping.
The object affected: People or Companies.
The List name, if relevant.
A screenshot of the warning or error.
Two or three example identifiers.
Do not share tokens, credentials or personal data that is not needed.
