Import Contacts and Accounts from Zoho

Import Contacts and Accounts from Zoho without preparing a CSV file. Contacts become Enginy contacts and Accounts become Companies.

You can import Contacts and Accounts from Zoho without preparing a CSV file. Contacts become Enginy contacts and Accounts become Companies.

Important: The current integration does not import records from Zoho's Leads module. Even though Enginy can export a person as a Lead, imports work with Contacts and Accounts.

Before you start

Check that:

  • Zoho shows as connected under Integrations.

  • The Integration user can see the Contacts, Accounts and fields you need.

  • The records have a name.

  • You have decided whether to link them with records that already exist in Enginy.

Choosing the source

  1. Open Create list.

  2. Choose Contact or Company.

  3. Select one of these sources.

For Contacts: Import contacts from Zoho or Import contacts from Zoho List.

For Accounts: Import companies from Zoho or Import companies from Zoho List.

Importing with filters

  1. Select the search option.

  2. In Import from Zoho Search, choose Zoho property, Operator and Value.

  3. Click + Add new filter if you need more conditions.

  4. Click Fetch preview.

  5. Review Match with existing contacts or Match with existing companies.

  6. Confirm with Add to list.

You can add up to five filters. When you reach the limit you will see You can only add up to 5 filters.

What the preview shows

The preview is there to review a sample before importing. It can show fewer cards than the count indicates:

  • A Contact without a first name or last name is not shown as a card.

  • A Company without a name is not shown as a card.

  • Deduplication can reduce the final number of records added.

An empty result also does not confirm on its own that no records exist. Review the Integration user's visibility and the permissions on the fields used in the filter.

Importing from a Zoho List

In this flow, a Zoho List is a Zoho Custom View.

  1. Select Import contacts from Zoho List or Import companies from Zoho List.

  2. Open Select Zoho list.

  3. Search for and select the Custom View.

  4. Review the Match with existing option.

  5. Click Import.

The view must belong to the right module: a Contacts Custom View to import contacts, an Accounts Custom View to import Companies.

Enginy calculates the count for the five most recently used views. Views with zero records or without a count do not appear in the selector. If you cannot find a valid view, open it in Zoho first, come back to Enginy and refresh the list.

The flow imports the full count of the selected view and does not offer a field to set a manual limit.

Match with existing

This option is on by default. Enginy tries to find an existing contact or Company, updates the relationship with Zoho, and stores the CRM ID for future operations.

Leave it on if you already have data in Enginy. If you turn it off, the import can create separate records even when they represent the same person or company.

Contacts associated with Accounts

When a Zoho Contact has an associated Account and the Integration user can see it, Enginy retrieves that Account and can link it to the corresponding Company.

Importing Companies does not include a control to also import all of their associated Contacts.

Permissions and volume

Enginy can only read the records visible to the user who authorized Zoho. A large import is processed page by page and can take longer because of API limits.

Do not disconnect Zoho while the import is running. When it finishes, review the list and check which records were added, linked or discarded.
