Connect, reconnect, or disconnect Salesforce

The connection uses OAuth. You sign in directly to Salesforce, authorize Enginy, and Salesforce grants the permissions belonging to the connected user.

The connection uses OAuth. You sign in directly to Salesforce, authorize Enginy, and Salesforce grants the permissions belonging to the connected user.

Before you start

Check that the Salesforce user has:

  • API Enabled.

  • Access to the objects you want to sync.

  • Permissions on every field you are going to map.

  • Access to Reports, List Views, Tasks and Users if you are going to use those features.

If your organization restricts access by IP, have the address shown as IP to whitelist on your Salesforce ready.

Connecting a production organization

  1. Open Integrations in Enginy.

  2. Select Salesforce.

  3. Open Connect Salesforce.

  4. Leave Login URL empty if you use the standard production login.

  5. Sign in to Salesforce with the user the integration should run as.

  6. Complete the authorization.

  7. Go back to Enginy and check that Salesforce shows as connected.

When Login URL is empty, Enginy uses https://login.salesforce.com.

Important: The permissions of the user you sign in with become the permissions of the whole integration. Choosing a different user later in User Mapping does not change that account.

Connecting through My Domain

If your organization uses My Domain, enter its URL in Login URL:
https://yourcompany.my.salesforce.com

Use the domain of the organization you want to work with. Then sign in and complete the Salesforce authorization.

If Salesforce restricts IP addresses

The Connect Salesforce window shows IP to whitelist on your Salesforce when an address is available for the connection.

Ask an administrator to allow that IP if Salesforce blocks access coming from unauthorized addresses. Then try connecting again.

What to configure after connecting

The Salesforce integration has five sections:

  1. Sync Configuration

  2. Field Mapping

  3. Campaign Mapping

  4. Campaign member sync — Salesforce is the only CRM with this panel

  5. User Mapping

There is no Tasks or Permissions panel for Salesforce.

Start with Sync Configuration. There you need to choose Contact Identifier, Lead Identifier, Company Identifier and Default object when exporting.

Then configure the fields and Owners you need before running your first export.

How the session is kept alive

Enginy uses the refresh token authorized by Salesforce to renew the access token automatically.

The connection can move to an expired state if Salesforce rejects the refresh token or returns errors such as invalid_grant, an expired access token or refresh token, or INVALID_SESSION_ID.

When that happens, authorize the integration again.

Reconnecting Salesforce

  1. Open Salesforce from Integrations.

  2. Select Reconnect.

  3. Check Login URL.

  4. Sign in to the correct organization.

  5. Authorize access again.

  6. Review Sync Configuration and Field Mapping before resuming exports.

If you connect with a different user, Salesforce will apply that new user's permissions and visibility.

Disconnecting Salesforce

Select Disable Salesforce to stop Enginy from using the integration.

Disconnecting Salesforce:

  • Stops new imports, exports and updates from Enginy.

  • Does not delete from Salesforce the records already exported.

  • Does not delete from Enginy the records already imported.

  • Is not necessarily the same as revoking the OAuth access inside Salesforce.

If you also want to withdraw the authorization in Salesforce, revoke the Connected App's access from your organization's admin settings.

Common problems

The authorization opens the wrong organization

Enter the correct URL in Login URL. Use the matching My Domain.

You see unsupported_grant_type

Check the login URL and connect again using the organization's domain.

You see INVALID_SESSION_ID or the connection has expired

Select Reconnect and authorize Salesforce again.

The connection works, but exports fail

Review object permissions, Field-Level Security, required fields, Validation Rules, restricted picklists, and Flows or triggers that may reject the operation.

The Owners you expect do not appear

Check that the connected user can query Salesforce Users and has permission to assign records to those Owners.

Salesforce blocks the login by IP

Add the address shown in IP to whitelist on your Salesforce to the allowed configuration and connect again.
