What this article is
This article is for customers who used AI Variables before the migration. It explains: why Enginy reorganized AI Variables into three distinct types, what happened to their existing variables (no data lost), where to find their variables in the new structure, and a brief orientation to the three new types (AI Research, AI Messages, AI Snippets) and Message Templates.
Why the migration happened
AI Variables used to handle four very different jobs in one place: researching contacts, writing full messages, generating short personalised fragments, and pulling simple data like a first name or company name. Having everything in one bucket made it hard to predict what you'd get, and getting consistent results often meant spending time fine-tuning instructions yourself.
The split gives each job its own dedicated home. Your workspace is now easier to navigate, the output is more predictable, and you don't need to configure anything to get useful results.
What has changed
It happens automatically. Your existing AI Variables are migrated based on how you were using them. You don't need to do anything.
You'll be notified. When the migration reaches your account, you'll get an in-app notification. Nothing to action before then.
Nothing is lost. Every variable is moved automatically. Nothing gets deleted.
Where did my variables go?
Enginy moves each variable automatically based on how you were using it. You can find them in AI Playbook:

Where to find your variables after migration
Your variables are in AI Playbook. They keep their original names, just look for them under their new type:

AI Snippets that used to be AI Variables → AI Playbook → AI Snippets tab
AI Research that used to be AI Variables → Find and Enrich → AI Research (also accessible from AI Playbook → AI Research)
If you're looking for a specific variable and can't find it, check all three tabs — it will be there under the type it was migrated to.
Once migrated, here's where everything lives:
AI Research (Find and Enrich → Companies or Contacts List → Add a Column or AI Playbook → AI Research)
Use this to research and qualify your contacts or companies. It runs across your list and drops the answer into a column. Good for: ICP fit, recent signals (funding, hiring, news), and enriching data. This is where your research and enrichment variables moved to.
AI Messages (Campaign → Add a message step (Email or LinkedIn), or AI Playbook → AI Messages tab)
Use this when you want AI to write the full message for each contact. This is where your variables that generated complete campaign messages moved to.
AI Snippets (Campaign → Add a message step (Email or LinkedIn), or AI Playbook → AI Snippets tab)
Use this to generate a short, personalised piece that sits inside a larger message, like an icebreaker or opening line. This is where your in-message fragment variables moved to.
